Port Harcourt Refinery Set to Supply 12 Nigerian States with Refined Petroleum Products

In a significant development for Nigeria’s oil industry, the Port Harcourt Refinery is set to begin supplying refined petroleum products to 12 Nigerian states, including Abia, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta, among others.

This news comes as the refinery has successfully completed its test-run phase and is now ready to start commercial production.

The supply of refined petroleum products from the Port Harcourt Refinery is expected to have a positive impact on the Nigerian economy, as it will reduce the country’s reliance on imported petroleum products and help to stabilise the supply of fuel in the country.

This development is also a major step forward in the Nigerian government’s efforts to revitalise the country’s oil industry and to make Nigeria self-sufficient in the production of refined petroleum products.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that the plant will supply refined Motor Spirit (petrol), Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), and other products to the 12 states.

The NNPCL has also stated that the ongoing test-running of the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited (PHRC) plant in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, will be completed soon.

The Port Harcourt Refinery is one of Nigeria’s three major refineries, and its successful completion of the test-run phase and the commencement of commercial production are significant milestones for the country’s oil industry.

The other two major refineries in Nigeria are the Warri Refinery and the Kaduna Refinery, which are also undergoing rehabilitation and are expected to come on stream by the end of the first quarter of next year and by the end of 2024, respectively.

In conclusion, the Port Harcourt Refinery’s successful test run and the start of commercial production of refined petroleum products are major developments for Nigeria’s oil industry and the country’s economy.

This development will help to reduce the country’s reliance on imported petroleum products and stabilise the supply of fuel in the country.
