Police Arrest Notorious IPOB/ESN Terrorist in Imo

The Police Command in Imo has successfully apprehended a notorious member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), 38-year-old Chidebere Nwuzor.

Nwuzor, a native of Amauzu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, has been on the police’s wanted list for a long time due to his involvement in various terrorist activities within the state.

Operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Nwuzor on April 8, 2024, following diligent intelligence gathering.

The arrest took place in his criminal hideout in Umuogu after a fierce gunfight with the police operatives. Nwuzor sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and surrendered after the encounter.

Upon interrogation, Nwuzor confessed to being a member of a deadly IPOB/ESN syndicate responsible for enforcing the unlawful sit-at-home order in the state and unleashing mayhem on unsuspecting citizens.

He admitted to driving the operation vehicle used in the attack that led to the killing of the DPO of Ahaizu Mbaise and an Inspector of Police in November 2023.

The police recovered one pump action gun with six rounds of live cartridges, one barrera pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition, and other incriminating items from Nwuzor’s possession.

He also revealed that he was recruited into the deadly terrorist group by Ebube Virus and Ishaka, who were neutralized by the operatives in December 2023.

The suspect is currently assisting the operatives in the investigation and has provided information that will lead to the arrest of other suspects at large.

The police assured that Nwuzor would be prosecuted after a thorough investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, emphasized the command’s unwavering commitment to clamp down on all forms of violent crimes in the state.

He assured the people of Imo that the police would not relent in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the state.

This successful operation underscores the determination of the Imo Police Command to put an end to all forms of violent crimes in the state, demonstrating their resolve to maintain law and order.
