Peter Obi accuses Tinubu of tarnishing Nigeria’s image over certificate saga

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has accused President Bola Tinubu of damaging Nigeria’s reputation in the international community over his certificate saga.

Obi made this statement at a press conference organised by his party on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. He said that he had no personal grudge against Tinubu, but he was concerned about the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s leadership and governance.

Obi said that he had presented evidence to the Supreme Court to prove that Tinubu did not graduate from CSU, as he claimed in his affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the 2023 presidential election. He said that Tinubu had failed to produce his original certificate from CSU, despite several requests from him and other stakeholders.

Obi said that Tinubu’s certificate saga had cast doubt on his eligibility and suitability for the office of president, as well as his moral authority to lead Nigeria. He said that Tinubu had violated the constitution and the electoral laws by lying under oath about his qualifications.
