PDP’s Okai Criticizes Kogi Governor Ododo for ‘Playing Politics’ with Security

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Austin Okai, has called on Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State to prioritize security over politics following a recent attack by bandits in the Omala community.

Okai criticized Ododo for what he perceives as a failure to address the security situation in the state effectively.

Governor Ododo had previously stated that he would not dignify “noise makers” with a response, referring to those who have criticized his administration’s handling of the situation.

In response, Okai accused Ododo of playing politics with security and questioned why the identity of a man arrested in connection with the killings was concealed.

Okai further criticized Ododo for not visiting the Omala community promptly after the attack, which resulted in the death of at least 25 people.

He argued that the governor’s delayed response and failure to provide support to the affected community demonstrated a lack of understanding of the basic responsibilities of governance.

The PDP candidate also expressed concern about Governor Ododo’s statement that he was given a mandate by the President, emphasizing that the governor’s appointment is by the people of the state, not the president.

This statement, according to Okai, reflects a “rookie governor” who lacks knowledge of the fundamental principles of governance.

As the security situation in Kogi State remains a pressing issue, Okai urged Governor Ododo to take immediate and decisive action to address the concerns of the people and ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens.
