...Rallies grassroots support ahead of 2027

In a strong show of party unity and renewed commitment, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli North Ward 2/6 held its maiden ward meeting on June 1, 2025, at Ighagbomi Street, off Isoko Road, Ughelli, drawing enthusiastic participation from party faithful across the ward’s communities.

During the meeting, members and stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Hon. Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, Acting State Chairman, and Hon. Daniel Emaye, Acting LGA Chairman. The motion was moved by Hon. Dr. Olotu Akpodiete (JP) and seconded by Comr. Moses, reflecting the ward’s collective endorsement of the current leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akpodiete, a 2023 House of Representatives aspirant for Ughelli North/South and Udu Federal Constituency, urged the newly inaugurated ward executives to commence door-to-door grassroots mobilization as a key strategy to rebuild and rebrand the party across the ward.

“As we move towards the 2027 General Elections, I call on all party members to remain dedicated and steadfast. We must believe in the strength of our party and continue to work towards its resurgence,” he emphasized.

He noted that while the party has faced challenges and witnessed the exit of some members, those gaps now present new leadership opportunities for youth and women. He encouraged optimism and faith in reclaiming the party’s "stolen mandate" in 2027.

In his remarks, Hon. Daniel Emaye, Acting PDP Chairman of Ughelli North, thanked party members for their loyalty and urged continued unity and commitment. He stressed that unity remains the cornerstone for the party's growth and future victories.

As part of the event, Hon. Emaye officially inaugurated the new acting ward executives for Ward 2/6, who pledged to steer the party toward progress and inclusivity:

Ogheneovo Erhabor – Chairman; Kingsley Efekorotu – Secretary; Odesiri Onisuru – Publicity Secretary; Ighoteguono Otes – Youth Leader.

In his acceptance speech, newly appointed Chairman Ogheneovo Erhabor thanked stakeholders for their trust, vowing to lead with integrity, fairness, and tireless dedication to PDP’s growth at the grassroots level.

“We will work without fear or favor, ensuring the PDP becomes stronger and more united in our ward and beyond,” he pledged.

The event concluded with a resounding reaffirmation of loyalty to the PDP and its ideals.
