PDP Governors Under Fire for Evading Responsibility in Fuel Subsidy Removal Aftermath

In a recent statement, the Tinubu Media Support Group has accused governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of “acting in a dishonourable and irresponsible manner” by seeking to absolve themselves of responsibility for easing the burden of the hardship faced by Nigerians in the aftermath of the fuel subsidy removal.

The group’s Chairman, Jesutega Onokpasa, argued that the governors, who are benefitting from improved allocations, should not be seen as reluctant to act decisively to alleviate the hardship of people in their domain.

The statement highlighted that the governors, as members of the National Economic Council, should not compare the Nigerian situation to Venezuela, where inflation rates are significantly higher.

Instead, the group urged the governors to collaborate with the federal government to address the problem.

The group also pointed out that President Bola Tinubu has twice ordered the release of hundreds of thousands of metric tonnes of grains and initiated efforts to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles into the transportation sector.

However, they claimed that no one knows what the governors have been doing with the improved allocations to states and local governments.

In conclusion, the group called on Nigerians to hold state governors and local government chairmen accountable for their actions in addressing the rising cost of living.
