PDP Chieftain Urges Damagum’s Resignation for Party’s Best Interest

Amidst internal leadership tensions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a prominent PDP chieftain, Dr. Farah Dagogo, has called for the resignation of the acting chairman, Umar Damagum.

This comes in the wake of the 98th National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting, where the party demonstrated resilience and unity despite facing challenges.

Dr. Dagogo, a former member of the National Assembly from Rivers State, praised the outcome of the recent PDP NEC Meeting as a testament to the party’s ability to overcome obstacles.

He emphasized the importance of political maturity and sagacity in navigating the party through turbulent times.

The PDP has been grappling with leadership issues, particularly concerning the North Central Zone’s representation in the party’s top leadership.

The NEC Meeting was a crucial moment for the party to address these concerns and chart a path forward.

Dr. Dagogo expressed optimism that by the next scheduled NEC meeting in August, Damagum would recognize the importance of stepping down from his position for the greater good of the PDP.

He believes that a more purposeful and result-oriented leadership is needed to strengthen the party and ensure its continued success.

The PDP chieftain highlighted the significant role played by the party’s National Leader and Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in fostering unity and preventing the party from succumbing to internal strife.

He commended the leadership of the party for their dedication and commitment to the PDP’s best interests.

As the PDP continues to navigate its internal leadership tensions, the call for Damagum’s resignation underscores the challenges the party faces and the importance of unity in overcoming them.

The next few months will be critical for the PDP as it works towards strengthening its leadership and preparing for future political challenges.
