PDP Caucus Decides Not to Discuss National Chairmanship at Upcoming NEC Meeting

The National Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that the appointment of the party’s national chairman will not be discussed at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

The decision was made during a caucus meeting on Wednesday, where members decided to refer the matter to a future NEC meeting after further consultations.

PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that the issue of the national chairmanship was not considered at the caucus meeting and would not be part of the agenda for the upcoming NEC meeting.

This decision means that the incumbent acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, will continue in his role until the next NEC meeting.

Ologunagba emphasized the importance of unity within the party and the need to follow the PDP’s constitution in line with its succession plan, taking into account the current circumstances and ongoing court processes.

The caucus aims to ensure that any actions taken will promote unity and adhere to the party’s constitution.

The PDP’s decision not to discuss the national chairmanship at the upcoming NEC meeting reflects the party’s commitment to careful consideration and consultation in addressing internal leadership tensions.

The party aims to maintain unity and stability as it navigates the complexities of the current political landscape and legal challenges.
