The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed former party chairman Elder Emma Ogidi as the Chairman of the South-South Caretaker Committee.

The appointment, announced in a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba, follows the expiration of the current zonal executive’s tenure on Sunday, March 9, 2025. The committee, which takes effect from Monday, March 10, 2025, was constituted in line with the party’s constitution to ensure continuity and prevent a leadership vacuum.

Other members of the caretaker committee include Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa, Barr. Godwin Akpan Udonta, Mrs. Bekewei Ashanti, Idehen Ebomoyi, Dame Vivian Ahanmisi, and Chief Damiete Herbert-Miller, who will serve as Secretary.

The committee will oversee the party’s affairs in the South-South for an initial period of three months or until a new zonal executive is elected. The NWC urged party leaders and members in the region to remain united and committed to the party’s progress.
