Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has launched 10,000 female canvassers to drum up support for Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State.
The mobilisation comes as campaigns intensify ahead of the August 15 election.
Operating under the banner "Akoni Obinrin" (Brave Women), the canvassers marched through several Osogbo neighbourhoods including MDS, Station Road and Fagbewesa before concluding at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office in Ogo-Oluwa. The solidarity walk aimed to build momentum for both the APC candidate and President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid.
Addressing journalists, Mrs. Oyetola said the group was structured to reach every corner of the state.
She explained that coordinators are stationed across all 62 local council areas and the state's 3,763 polling units, supported by women leaders in communities.
"Our canvassers will educate voters on how to cast their ballots correctly for the APC to ensure that no vote is voided or wasted," she told reporters. The wife of the minister expressed confidence that Oyebamiji's experience in both private and public sectors suited him for the governorship office.
Mrs. Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the APC candidate, said the march was designed to boost women's participation in the election.
She called on women across Osun to turn out in large numbers on voting day.
Speaking at the event, Oyebamiji praised the women's initiative, calling it a "Walk to Win." He pledged to revitalise key sectors of the state's economy if voters elect him governor.
"Voting for the APC is the path to restoring Osun's lost glory," he said. The candidate urged women to mobilise their communities and families for the polls.
The event drew several dignitaries including Princess Adebukola Adereti, wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate; Hon. Ayo Omidiran, chairperson of the Federal Character Commission; and Hon.
Taiwo Oluga, a House of Representatives candidate.
