The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has dismissed recent allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) accusing Governor Ademola Adeleke of misrule as a desperate move to discredit the governor’s administration.
In a statement released by PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi, the party highlighted Governor Adeleke’s accomplishments and criticized the APC for spreading misinformation and propaganda.
According to the PDP, Governor Adeleke has surpassed the achievements of the previous administration in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and workers’ welfare.
The statement emphasized the governor’s commitment to clearing salary debts and pension arrears, as well as channeling funds that would have been used for security votes towards the development of the state.
The PDP’s response comes after the APC accused Governor Adeleke of having a nonchalant attitude towards the state workers and criticized him for attending a birthday party for Juju music maestro, Ebenezer Obey, while civil servants and pensioners had not yet received their wage award for March.
In its defense, the PDP argued that there was nothing wrong with the governor honoring an illustrious Nigerian like Chief Ebenezer Obey, but the timing was inappropriate.
The party also pointed out that Governor Adeleke has been addressing the state’s financial challenges and working towards improving the living conditions of workers and pensioners.
The ongoing feud between the PDP and the APC in Osun State highlights the political tensions and differences in governance approaches.
As the state continues to navigate these challenges, it remains to be seen how the two parties will work together to foster unity and progress in the region.
