Oredo council chairman, Osunde renders account of stewardship

The Executive Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has rendered account of stewardship since assumption of office in March, 2018.

In a Media Parley in Benin, Hon.Osunde said that since he assumed office salaries of staff at the Council are being paid as and when due while the backlog of salary arrears of six months he met has been paid up to the fourth month and preparing to pay the fifth one.

He highlighted other landmark achievement to include the remodeling of the Oba Ovoranmwen Park and garden, posting of speed limits on major roads and streets at the City center, grading of forty two earth roads, rehabilitation of broken down borehole, building of three classrooms at Uholor Community in collaboration with CSDP, and building of Ekae market.

Others include the construction of 1,500 chairs and desks to be distributed to primary schools, renovation of skill acquisition Centre in Ugbor village and the purchase of table tennis board in all the wards to enhance sporting activities in the area.

The Council Boss said that house numbering and street naming and validation is also going on in the Council area noting that it is an initiative by his administration to have a data base of residents in the area, enhance security and to add to the aesthetic beauty of the local government to attract investors.

He said that a special task force on sanitation was constituted by the Council to ensure a greener and health friendly environment pointing out that the Council has since keyed into Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s developmental agenda.

While stressing the pivotal role of the media in the overall development of a state, Hon. Osunde noted that the media is the fourth estate of the realm.

He urged journalists to feel free at all times to approach the Council to clarify information at their disposal before going to press to enable a balanced and objective reportage of events in the Council area.

On his part, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalist, Edo State, Comrade Roland Osakue commended the Council Boss for his excellent performance in office and urged him to continue to partner with journalists.

The Media Parley was attended by journalists from the print and electronic media.
