Omokri Advises Tinubu on Family Inclusion in Official Foreign Trips Amidst National Unrest

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has recently advised President Bola Tinubu to stop going on official foreign trips with his children.

Omokri pointed out that although there is nothing legally wrong with the President going overseas with any member of his family, the current political climate in Nigeria is not conducive to such actions.

The country is currently bitterly divided as a result of the outcome of the 2023 presidential election and the removal of fuel subsidy.

In light of these circumstances, Omokri believes that it would be unwise for President Tinubu to take his children on official business trips overseas.

Omokri argues that this would not only look bad from a public relations perspective, but it would also play into the hands of political opponents and hostile media, who have taken a business decision to oppose the administration to appease their base in preparation for the next election.

Despite his advice, Omokri acknowledges that other world leaders, such as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, former U.S. President Donald Trump, and current U.S. President Joe Biden, have also included their children in official business trips.

While there may not be any legal issues with President Tinubu’s actions, Omokri suggests that the President should be cautious in his approach, considering the current state of national unrest in Nigeria.
