By Akpos Oghenetega,

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, Prof. Rukevwe Ugwumba, has described the performance of the former Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th Assembly, Obarisis Ovie Omo-Agege as unprecedented in the history of legislative representation in Nigeria.

Ugwumba who is a professor of medicine and family physician in Canada with special interest in Public Health and with relevant fields of expertise as a Consultant to the Senate Committee on Health, in the 8th National Assembly (NASS) Abuja, said that the impact of Senator Omo-Agege was not just felt in Delta Central, his primary senatorial district by across the entire Delta State.

The grassroot politician and philanthropist stated this while addressing journalist on Saturday at ancient and commercial city of Ughelli in Delta State where APC leaders and thousands of supporters and Deltans across the state came to welcomed Obarisis Ovie Omo-Agege home after eight years of meritorious service to the country as the senator that represented Delta Central from 2015 to 2023.

According to her, “Today we came to tell him thank him for his attachments in the senate, particularly those of us he represented as a Senator. And as the Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th Assembly, Obarisis Ovie Omo-Agege had unprecedented success.

“He didn’t just impact the Delta Central senatorial district, but the entire Delta State, he attracted projects worth billions of Naria to the three senatorial districts of the state, he left a footprint in every local government in Delta.

“So, we came to reassure him that Deltans love him, though we missed an opportunity in 2023, but we want to encourage him to continue to with the struggle for a better Delta of our dreams. We are solidly behind him and I know that at the appropriate time, I am talking of 2027, Delta State would be rescued from this current bad governance.

“If you look around, you will see many women, this is a testament to the fact Senator Omo-Agege is very gender friendly senator. And when we passed the market all the women came out with their brooms to welcome him, even though he is not the governor, Omo-Agege is a man loved by Deltans,” she added.
