Olorogun David Edevbie and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori

Omene congratulates Oborevwori on his Appeal Court victory; urges Edevbie to give peace a chance

Chief Joe Omene-led Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) has congratulated Delta State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 Governorship Candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on his Appeal Court victory, urging Olorogun David Edevbie not to appeal the case in Urhobo interest

Recall that Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court in a judgment delivered on July 7th, 2023 disqualified Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as PDP candidate PDP on account of allegedly supplying false and forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judge subsequently directed INEC and the PDP to recognize the plaintiff, Olorogun David Edevbie, as the candidate of the PDP in the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, However, Appeal Court today dismissed Justice Taiwo Taiwo and reinstated Sheriff Oborevwori as PDP candidate.

Reacting to the Appeal Court, Chief Omene said that with Sheriff Oborevwori victory, all Urhobo sons and daughters contesting the 2023 general elections should go about it as a brotherly contest devoid of acrimony and use of foul language.

While commending Olorogun David Edevbie for putting up a good fight, appealed to him to shelter his sword and should not proceed to challenge the outcome of the Appeal Court judgment at the Supreme Court in the overall interest of the Urhobo Nation.

According to him: “I wish to on behalf of myself and UPU congratulate you, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on your Appeal Court victory which reaffirmed you as the PDP governorship candidate in Delta State.

“I wish also to use this medium to appeal to Olorogun David Edevbie, to at this point shelter his sword and not proceed to challenge the judgment of the Appeal Court at the Supreme Court in Urhobos interest because he who fights and run away lives to fight another day.

“This may not be his time, so I want to appeal to him to support Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori because Urhobo is one, tomorrow others will rally round you too and you can also serve Deltans in another capacity, it must not be governor,” he added.
