Adekunle Oladeji, a former chairman of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area in Oyo State, has left the All Progressives Congress for the Allied Peoples Movement. He served as LCDA chairman during Senator Abiola Ajimobi's tenure as governor.
The defection marks a significant split within Oladeji's family political interests. His father, Alhaji B.A.O.
Oladeji, remains a prominent APC stakeholder and previously chaired the party's Oyo South Senatorial District when it operated as the Action Congress of Nigeria before the 2014-2015 merger.
Oladeji has publicly backed the APM's governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, and Governor Seyi Makinde, who leads the party's presidential ticket for 2027. When contacted on Saturday, he confirmed the move to this newspaper.
"Yes. It is confirmed," Oladeji told reporters in a message, adding that he'd switched parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The move signals growing political realignment in Oyo State as major figures reassess their party affiliations before the next election cycle. Oladeji's decision comes as several politicians across Nigeria have recently switched parties to position themselves for 2027.
