...Commends Oghenesivbe for championing development projects
The Okpe-Kokori Community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State staged a solidarity march on Friday, May 16, 2025, to the private residence of the Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, in appreciation of the recently completed Okpe Street construction project.
Elders, women, and youths from all six polling units in the community, representing over 4,000 registered voters, pledged their full support for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.
Receiving the enthusiastic crowd, Dr. Oghenesivbe expressed gratitude for their visit and commended Governor Oborevwori for releasing funds that ensured the timely and high-quality completion of the Okpe Street project. He also acknowledged the efforts of former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, under whose administration the project was first awarded in 2022.
Dr. Oghenesivbe emphasised the importance of continuity in governance, urging voters in Delta State to reelect leaders committed to development and national progress. He highlighted the role of the Ministry of Works (Rural), led by Commissioner Charles Aniagwu, in ensuring the use of quality materials and adherence to standards.
The visit coincided with Dr. Oghenesivbe’s birthday, which he described as made special by the community's gesture. "Your visit and the heartfelt songs in praise of our governor are the best birthday gift I could ask for," he said.
Earlier, Hon. S. Oghoghorie Vwede, Councillor representing Ward 12, hailed the completion of Okpe Street as a historic milestone, crediting Dr. Oghenesivbe's commitment and lobbying efforts with both past and current administrations for the project's realisation.
He reaffirmed the community’s unwavering support for Dr. Oghenesivbe, Governor Oborevwori, and President Tinubu, promising massive voter turnout in their favour come 2027.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a 4x6 framed glass portrait of Governor Oborevwori, received on his behalf by Dr. Oghenesivbe.
