‘Okada” rider jailed 4 months for stealing motorcycle

A Karu Upper Area Court, sitting in Abuja on Thursday sentenced a 38-year-old motorcyclist, Adamu Salisu to four months imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle.
The judge, Malam Ishaq Hassan, however gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine and warned him never to commit crime again.
The convict, a resident of Kurudu, Abuja had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of theft.
Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Mr Olarewaju Osho told the court that a vigilance group in Karu, led by one Abbah reported the matter at the Nyanya Police Station on Feb. 27.
According to the team, on same date, the convict dishonestly stole a motorcycle, but was arrested in the process of pushing the said motorcycle.
He said the motorcycle was recovered from the convict and later released to the owner.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code
