Odili Declares Fubara as Rivers State’s Political Leader Amidst Political Crisis with Wike

Former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, has declared Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the political leader of the state, amidst a political crisis with his protege, Nyesom Wike.

Odili, who mentored Wike, expressed his support for Fubara during the inauguration of the Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state.

Odili’s declaration comes as a significant development in the ongoing political crisis between Fubara and Wike, who is currently serving as the FCT minister.

The crisis has been brewing since October, when Fubara survived an impeachment attempt by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Wike.

During the inauguration event, Odili commended Fubara’s strides since coming into office on May 29 and urged him to stand firm with President Tinubu and align with his quality policies.

He emphasized that Rivers State holds a significant position in Nigeria, stating that “the entire map of Nigeria is sitting on Rivers State” and that “when Rivers State coughs, Nigeria will catch a cold.”

Odili also highlighted the importance of the healthcare center, which he built and donated to the community.

He mentioned that the project was a response to the destruction of the community’s health center during floods two years ago.

In his remarks, Odili congratulated Fubara for winning the hearts of Rivers people and standing up for their interests in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He praised Fubara’s governance so far, noting that he has touched critical sectors such as education and health in less than one year in office.

As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, Odili’s declaration of Fubara as the political leader of the state marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing power struggle between Fubara and Wike.

It remains to be seen how this development will shape the political future of Rivers State and its relationship with the Federal Government.
