Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged to create more employment opportunities for youths through aggressive infrastructural development and stronger partnerships with construction firms executing projects across the state.
The governor made the commitment on Monday while addressing workers at the Julius Berger Nigeria Plc project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, saying his administration would continue to use infrastructure projects as a tool for economic growth, job creation, and social stability.
Oborevwori said rising unemployment and economic hardship remained major concerns for many families, stressing that the government had a responsibility to provide opportunities that could restore hope among young people.
“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” he said.
The governor disclosed that more projects would be awarded to Julius Berger to accelerate urban renewal and expand job opportunities, particularly in Warri, Effurun, and surrounding areas.
He revealed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout-NPA axis had already been awarded to the construction giant as part of his administration’s broader plan to modernise critical infrastructure within the Warri/Effurun metropolis.
According to him, contractors and workers handling projects across Delta State have demonstrated commitment to the development of their host communities, adding that genuine efforts aimed at improving lives deserved public support.
Oborevwori also praised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for economic reforms, which, according to him, have increased revenue available to states for infrastructural projects and prompt salary payments.
He urged residents and workers to continue supporting the Tinubu administration and All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 elections to sustain ongoing development initiatives across the country.
The governor further disclosed that the completed Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project would be inaugurated after the completion of the Ubeji-Ifie Road, assuring residents that ongoing infrastructure projects would soon deliver lasting economic and social benefits.
“We are determined to complete important projects across the state, including roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure. Some of these projects may not yet be completed, but work is ongoing, and when they are completed, the people will enjoy the full benefits,” he stated.
Oborevwori thanked workers and stakeholders for their support and dedication to the state’s development agenda, assuring that his administration would remain focused on projects and policies capable of directly improving the lives of Deltans.
He also prayed for God’s protection over workers, residents, and road users, expressing optimism that the ongoing projects would stand as enduring symbols of progress and development across Delta State.
