Northern Senators Forum Appoints Senator Yar’Adua as New Chairman

The Northern Senators Forum has appointed Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua as its new chairman following the resignation of Senator Abdul Ningi, who represented Bauchi Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Yar’Adua, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), represents Katsina Central in the National Assembly.

Senator Ningi’s resignation was prompted by unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the Nation at large.

He had previously been handed a three-month suspension after commenting on N3.7 trillion not being traceable in the 2024 budget.

In addition to the appointment of Senator Yar’Adua, the Northern Senators Forum named Senator Tahir Mungono, representing Borno North, as its new spokesperson.

Mungono replaces Senator Sumaila Kawu, who was warned by the Senate to stop sharing posts capable of causing unrest in the country.

The Northern Senators Forum is an influential group within the National Assembly that represents the interests of the northern region.

With the appointment of Senator Yar’Adua as chairman and Senator Mungono as spokesperson, the forum aims to address the concerns of the northern senators and the region as a whole.
