NNPCL Boss Kyari: Kaduna Refinery Set to Begin Production in December 2024

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has announced that the refinery in Kaduna State is set to begin production in December 2024.

He made this announcement during a meeting with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria in Abuja.

Kyari also revealed that the Port Harcourt refinery is scheduled to begin operations in two weeks, with crude oil already stocked in the refinery.

The mechanical completion of the Port Harcourt refinery was achieved in December, and now the facility is undergoing regulatory compliance tests that must be completed before the start of operations.

The Warri refinery has also completed its rehabilitation work and is currently undergoing regulatory compliance processes with the relevant regulator. Kyari assured that this refinery will also be ready soon.

In his statement, Kyari emphasized that the Kaduna refinery will be ready by December 2024, as they have not yet reached the same stage of completion as the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.

He promised that the NNPCL will deliver the Kaduna refinery according to the stated timeline.

The start of production at these refineries is expected to improve the supply of petroleum products in Nigeria and reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuel.
