Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the outgoing director general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has completed his four-year tenure and handed over the reins to Chudi Ofodile, the executive director of Finance and Administration.

The handover ceremony took place at the NIMASA Towers in Lagos, marking the end of a successful term for Dr. Jamoh.

During the ceremony, Dr. Jamoh expressed his gratitude to the federal government for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in this capacity and acknowledged the privilege of contributing to the Nigerian maritime sector.

He also thanked the staff of the Agency for their cooperation and professionalism in assisting the Agency in the realization of its mandate.

Ofodile, the new acting director general, commended Dr. Jamoh for bringing his wealth of experience to the sector and acknowledged the outgoing director general’s expertise, noting that the industry would continue to call upon him for his knowledge and guidance.

The handover was conducted in compliance with the federal government Establishment Circular, which outlines the end-of-tenure processes for heads of extra-ministerial departments, director generals, and chief executive officers of parastatals, agencies, commissions, and government-owned companies.

As the new leadership takes charge, the Nigerian maritime sector looks forward to further growth and development under the guidance of Chudi Ofodile, with the continued support of the dedicated staff at NIMASA and the expertise of Dr. Bashir Jamoh.
