Nigeria's Communications Commission has emerged among the country's top-performing public institutions. A new assessment ranked it alongside the North East Development Commission in the highest tier.

Transparency Watch Initiative released the Fiscal Responsibility and Institutional Performance Report on Friday. Dr.

Ifure Ataifure, who heads the initiative, unveiled the findings to reporters.

Ataifure explained that evaluators examined federal agencies across multiple criteria. These included fiscal discipline, fair practices, regulatory efficiency, project delivery, and public responsiveness.

His team also measured each institution's tangible contributions to national development. The assessment covered dozens of federal bodies operating across sectors.

Beyond the NCC and NEDC, several others performed strongly in the rankings. The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Nigerian Ports Authority, and Federal Inland Revenue Service all scored well.

Debt Management Office, Nigeria Customs Service, and NAFDAC also made the list. The Rural Electrification Agency and National Identity Management Commission rounded out the top performers.

Ataifure singled out the NCC for particular praise during his remarks. "It remains one of our strongest examples of regulatory efficiency," he noted.

According to him, the commission's work has transformed Nigeria's telecommunications landscape. Broadband penetration, digital access, and communications stability have all improved significantly under its watch.

The gains have positioned telecoms as a major economic driver for the nation. Industry resilience continues to contribute substantially to national growth, Ataifure added.
