Nigeria’s Non-Oil Export Reaches 6.685 Million Metric Tonnes in 2023 – NEPC

According to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nigeria’s non-oil export stood at 6.685 million metric tonnes in 2023, a significant increase compared to previous years.

This growth in non-oil exports is a positive sign for the Nigerian economy, as it diversifies the country’s export portfolio and reduces its dependence on oil exports.

The top exported products in 2023 were Urea, Cocoa Beans, Sesame Seed, Soya Beans/meal, Cashew Nuts/Kernels, Aluminum Ingots, and Hibiscus Flower.

These products accounted for a large portion of the total non-oil exports and contributed significantly to the overall growth in the sector.

Despite the global economic challenges and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nigeria’s non-oil export sector has shown resilience and adaptability.

The NEPC has played a crucial role in promoting and facilitating the export of non-oil products, providing support to Nigerian exporters and helping them to access new markets.

The Nigerian government has also implemented various policies and initiatives to support the growth of the non-oil export sector, including the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) and the Export Development Fund (EDF).

These initiatives have provided much-needed support to Nigerian exporters and have helped to drive the growth of the non-oil export sector.

Nigeria’s non-oil export performance in 2023 is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the Nigerian economy.

With continued support from the government and the NEPC, the non-oil export sector is poised for further growth and development in the years to come.
