Nigerian Navy Arrests 2 Suspects, Seizes Trucks with Illegal Refined Products in Bayelsa

The Nigerian Navy has arrested two suspects and seized a tanker truck and a Mazda vehicle loaded with 1,300 liters of illegally refined products.

The arrests were made by the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH (NNS), under the mandate of the Chief of Naval Staff and Operation Delta Safe, as part of their ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft and illegal refining in the region.

Commodore Sunday Lakan, the Commander of NNS SOROH, revealed that the arrests were made based on credible intelligence received about illegal activities taking place in the area.

The Navy team was able to intercept a tanker truck suspected of transporting stolen crude oil from a wellhead in the Biseni area of Yenagoa Local Government Area, as well as a Mazda vehicle carrying illegally refined products.

The tanker truck driver and a female suspect were apprehended during the operation.

The suspects have been detained for further investigation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

Commodore Lakan urged those involved in illegal activities to desist from such actions, emphasizing the damage they cause to the country’s economy.

The Nigerian Navy has been actively working to curb crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal refining sites in the region, with a focus on maintaining the security and economic stability of Nigeria.

The recent arrests are a testament to the Navy’s commitment to ensuring that those involved in illegal activities are brought to justice.

The Commander of NNS SOROH also appealed to the public to cooperate with the military by providing information on illegal activities.

This collaboration is crucial in the fight against criminal activities that threaten the nation’s resources and economic well-being.

As the Nigerian Navy continues its efforts to combat illegal oil refining and theft, it is hoped that these arrests serve as a warning to those involved in such activities and help deter others from engaging in similar actions.
