Nigeria's military has reshuffled its top brass in a sweeping reorganization of command positions. Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, approved the overhaul affecting dozens of senior officers.

Colonel Appolonia Anele, acting spokesperson for the Army, announced the changes Saturday. She said the moves aim to boost national security and sharpen the military's operational edge.

General Officers Commanding across multiple divisions received new postings. Brigade commanders and senior staff officers at Army Headquarters also got reassigned.

Major General WM Dangana now leads 3 Division as its GOC. He also commands Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, taking over from Major General EF Oyinlola.

In another key appointment, Major General EI Okoro assumes command of 6 Division. He replaces Major General EE Emeka and leads the land component of Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE.

Major General JR Lar was named Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison. Brigadier General OM Oyekola steps in as Acting Military Secretary at the Army level.

Brigadier General I Waziri keeps his position as Chief of Staff in the COAS office. His continuity signals stability at the highest command level.

Two brigadier generals got fresh operational assignments. Brigadier General IB Buhari now heads Headquarters 63 Brigade, while Brigadier General K Rabiu takes command of Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade.

The Army emphasized these moves strengthen combat readiness across formations. Officials believe the restructured leadership will handle emerging threats more effectively.

Technology-driven security gets special focus in the reshuffle. Major General SA Emmanuel was appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command.

According to the statement, this appointment "reinforces the Army's growing focus on emerging domains of warfare and technology-driven security operations."

Intelligence and education sectors also saw significant personnel changes. Major General O Adegbe moves to Director of Intelligence and Security at Defence Headquarters.

Major General KE Chigbu becomes Deputy Commandant at the National Defence College. His expertise in strategic studies will support the institution's academic mission.

Training commands got fresh leadership too. Major General FS Etim takes over as Chief of Training at TRADOC Headquarters.

Major General SD Makolo now heads the Nigerian Army Armour School. Major General SO Adejimi assumes command of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport.

Brigadier General U Ahmad received posting as Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria. His appointment covers recruitment and basic training functions.

Military-owned enterprises also felt the reshuffle's impact. Major General KO Ukandu was named MD and CEO of Post Housing Development Limited.

Major General AI Allison became Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited. These civilian appointments reflect the Army's institutional diversity.

The Army said these moves will boost its capacity to tackle evolving security threats nationwide. Officials charged the newly appointed officers to hit the ground running.
