Nigeria's Super Falcons will launch their WAFCON title defence against first-time participants Malawi on Tuesday at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat. The two teams sit in Group C alongside Egypt and Zambia.
This marks the maiden meeting between Nigeria and Malawi at the continental championship. It'll be Nigeria's 18th encounter against a WAFCON debutant.
The Super Falcons have dominated these matchups, winning 16 of their previous 17 games against tournament newcomers. They've only drawn once, a goalless affair against Tunisia at the 2008 edition in their second group fixture.
Nigeria's impressive record includes 67 goals scored and just four conceded across all matches against WAFCON debutants. Their most recent outings came in 2022, when they thrashed Botswana 2-0 and Burundi 4-0 in their second and third group games respectively.
Malawi will become the 21st different nation the Super Falcons have faced at WAFCON. The Nigerian side arrives in Morocco as ten-time champions and heavy favourites against the eastern African side.
