Niger State and Origin Tech Group Join Forces to Revolutionize Agriculture

Towards revolutionizing the agricultural and livestock value-chain space in Nigeria and beyond, Niger State has entered into an agreement with Origin Tech Group, a knowledge-based and practical solution-driven leader in the agriculture food systems and operations in Nigeria.

The partnership aims to unlock and maximize the huge agricultural potentials of Niger State, addressing issues such as food shortages, youth participation, and rural development.

At an event held at the Oregun office of Origin Tech Group, the two parties signed a partnership agreement that seeks to elevate and expand food production by collaborating with state governments and other stakeholders who align in the direction of expanding productivity of the Nigerian food systems to create wealth for rural Nigeria.

The Chairman of Origin Tech Group, Prince S J Samuel, expressed his elation at having Niger State as a partner, emphasizing the company’s commitment to collaborating with states and other stakeholders who share the same vision of rapidly elevating and expanding food production.

Niger State Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, was also enthusiastic about the partnership, citing his inspiration for agricultural development from a course he attended at the Harvard Business School.

He highlighted the abundant resources in Niger State, including vast cultivable land, water resources, and hospitable people, which can be leveraged to turn the state into a leading agricultural and livestock value-chain processor.

Under the Produce-for-Lagos initiative, Niger State will produce food items such as paddy, tubers, legumes, and grains, while Lagos State will position itself as a major off-taker.

This arrangement will provide a ready market for Niger State farmers and ensure food availability and price stability for Lagos State citizens.

The partnership between Niger State and Origin Tech Group extends beyond equipment support services, as Origin Tech Group has also arranged for financing from international financial partners and local funding institutions to support the initiative.

As Niger State and Origin Tech Group join forces, this collaboration is poised to transform agriculture in Nigeria, addressing food security challenges, promoting youth participation in agriculture, and driving rural development.
