Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator for Kogi Central, has taken her oath of office in the Senate. She was sworn in by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at 11:41 a.m. today.
She is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and won the election with 54,354 lawful votes. Her rival, Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC), got 51,291 votes.
Ohere had challenged her victory at the Kogi National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal but lost. He then appealed to the Appeal Court, which also affirmed the Tribunal’s judgement on Monday.
