The recruitment exercise conducted by the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NATCOM) has been delayed following ongoing police investigations involving the Commission’s Acting Director General.
In a statement released by Dr. Michael Nwoko, Chief of Staff to Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, it was confirmed that the recruitment process—which took place in April 2024 in Asaba, with 3,000 shortlisted applicants from Delta North Senatorial District—remains incomplete due to unforeseen circumstances.
The Commission’s Acting Director General, Otunba Adejere Rewane Adegbenro, is currently under police investigation for alleged fraud linked to the nationwide recruitment initiative.
Demonstrating his continued commitment to youth empowerment, Senator Ned Nwoko personally covered the processing fees for all 3,000 applicants from Delta North who participated in the screening exercise.
Dr Nwoko reassured applicants and the general public to remain patient and calm, stating that further updates regarding the recruitment process will be communicated once investigations are concluded.
According to verified information, Adegbenro was invited by the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWTT) on April 26, 2024, in response to a petition filed against him — marking the start of his legal ordeal.

NATCOM RECRUITMENT UPDATE
This is to inform the good people of Delta North Senatorial District that the recruitment process conducted by the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NATCOM), where 3,000 applicants were shortlisted and screened in Asaba in April 2024, is yet to be concluded due to unforeseen circumstances.
The Acting Director General of the Commission, Otunba Adejere Rewane Adegbenro, is currently under police investigation for fraud in connection with the nationwide recruitment exercise.
It is important to note that Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko graciously covered the processing fees for 3,000 applicants from Delta North who took part in the screening, in line with his unwavering commitment to creating job opportunities for unemployed youths in the district.
