NAPTIP Urges Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Trafficked Persons, APIN Public Health Initiatives Empowers Women

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has called on the government at all levels to rehabilitate and reintegrate back into the society those who were trafficked and recovered by the agency.

This appeal was made by the zonal commander, Gloria Bai, during the commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day Celebration organized by APIN Public Health Initiatives in collaboration with the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs.

Bai highlighted the vulnerability of young girls and women to trafficking, stating that a large percentage of traffickers are girls and young women trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

She emphasized the need for victims of trafficking to be empowered, rehabilitated, and reintegrated back into society.

Dr. Sunday Inya, the representative of APIN Public Health Initiatives, stressed the importance of supporting and empowering women, particularly young girls who are vulnerable to trafficking.

He also called on stakeholders in the country to help women take leadership positions in all sectors of the country.

APIN, a leading international partner, is at the forefront of providing health care and services in maternal & child health, reproductive health, tuberculosis, and malaria in Nigeria.

The organization is currently working in five states to ensure the health of Nigerian citizens, especially women and children.

In addition to honoring women who have distinguished themselves in their fields, APIN also encourages parents and caregivers to support the girl child in pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to bridge the gender gap in these fields.

Both NAPTIP and APIN Public Health Initiatives are working towards improving the lives of women and children in Nigeria, advocating for gender equality, and providing essential health care services.
