Soldiers from Operation Enduring Peace have freed a pastor and his wife from kidnappers in Plateau State. Captain Polycarp Oteh, the operation's spokesman, announced the rescue on Sunday.
Troops in Bokkos responded fast to a distress call from Faggem Village on June 5, 2026. They interrupted an abduction in progress, forcing the criminals to flee into the forest.
The soldiers pursued the suspects into nearby bushland. They successfully tracked down and rescued the pastor and his wife from the kidnappers' grip.
Both captives had injuries from the initial attack by their abductors. Troops immediately transported them to Bokkos medical clinic for urgent care.
Captain Oteh confirmed the couple received treatment at the facility. He noted that soldiers launched a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
In a separate operation, troops rescued two additional victims in Kaduna State. This rescue happened at Ungwan Gora in Sanga on Saturday morning.
Soldiers had received reports of suspected terrorists blocking the highway between Rafin Tagwai and Angwan Dariya. Armed gunmen had stopped a commercial vehicle and taken passengers captive.
Upon arrival at the scene, troops discovered the abduction was underway. They recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm ammunition left behind by the attackers.
Soldiers immediately chased the terrorists into the adjacent forest on a rescue mission. Their quick action freed two injured passengers from the vehicle.
According to Captain Oteh, efforts are still underway to rescue other kidnapped occupants. The two survivors were rushed to a hospital in Fadan Karshi District.
Medical staff provided immediate treatment to the rescued passengers. Their conditions were being monitored closely.
Captain Oteh reassured residents about the military's commitment to the region. He promised that troops would intensify operations against criminal gangs on highways and in communities.
Operation Enduring Peace continues patrolling Plateau and surrounding areas. The military remains focused on eliminating security threats across the affected zones.
