Lulu-Briggs Withdraws Election Appeal Peace and Stability

In a surprising turn of events, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2024 Rivers State Governorship election, has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In his 2024 New Year message to Rivers people, Lulu-Briggs said the gesture was his contribution to reducing tension in an overheated Rivers polity, saying it is a token of his commitment to a peaceful Rivers State.

Lulu-Briggs’ withdrawal of the appeal comes after a difficult year for many Rivers people, during which their livelihoods and security were compromised.

The ongoing political crisis in the state, if not halted, would further worsen the lot of the people.

Lulu-Briggs commended the Rivers people for standing resolute against undemocratic and unconstitutional tendencies.

He also praised the Supreme Court for its wisdom in handling the case and expressed hope that the decision would bring peace and stability to the state.

The Accord Party’s withdrawal of the appeal marks a new chapter in the political landscape of Rivers State.

As the state moves forward, it is hoped that the focus will shift to addressing the pressing issues that affect the lives of its citizens, and that the political environment will become more conducive to progress and development.
