Former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has pointed fingers at northerners themselves for the region's worsening security crisis. Speaking on Premier Radio Kano Wednesday, the PDP chieftain blamed poor leadership and moral decay for the insurgency plaguing the North.

Lamido said political leaders have abandoned their duty to protect citizens and property. Instead, he noted, they prioritize politics over governance and manipulate youth in destructive ways.

"Northerners should blame themselves for the insecurity," he stated during the broadcast. "Politicians are contributing to the destruction of young people's lives, and that worsens security because of how they neglect the youth."

According to him, the region must urgently rebuild discipline among young people. Northerners need to wake up and fix this crisis from the foundation, starting at home.

Lamido stressed that Boko Haram members and bandits aren't foreign invaders. "They are our children from the North," he insisted, "thrown from the sky, they are among us."

He argued these insurgents appear stronger because of moral decay in society. "The fault is ours, and we must fix it," the former minister added firmly.

On state police, Lamido backed the idea but with conditions. Proper training and discipline must come before establishing such forces, he cautioned.

"There is nothing wrong with state police," he noted, "but they must be properly trained and guided on how to carry out their duties."

He expressed deep concern about northerners arresting fellow northerners for ransom. "What kind of immorality is that?" Lamido asked, visibly troubled.

Meanwhile, he lamented, leaders remain fixated on political games. Justice and fairness among northerners are essential to restoring peace, he concluded.
