Kwara State's Works Ministry has dismissed claims that it spent N1.2 billion on the Moro Bridge. The bridge connects Kwara and Oyo States as a federal structure.

According to a statement from Press Secretary Olajide Moyo Abolarin, the actual spending was just N27 million. This money went toward temporary repairs to keep the bridge operational.

Abolarin called the viral video making the N1.2 billion claim a malicious smear campaign. He said it targeted state officials and the government itself.

The ministry noted that it has repeatedly stepped in when critical infrastructure threatens citizens. This includes federal facilities like the Moro Bailey Bridge.

Federal authorities are already constructing a new bridge at the location, according to the statement. Any temporary work was done with full knowledge of the national government.

The viral video, posted by a user named Ajibare Talks, made the disputed claim. Officials say it falsely attributed the spending to the tenure of Abdulquawiy Olododo.

Abolarin stressed that the N1.2 billion figure is completely false. He described it as an attempt to damage Olododo's reputation and the administration's image.

The ministry asked the public to reject the allegation. Officials characterized the video as a politically motivated attack on the government and its former commissioner.
