Six aspirants vying for the APC House of Representatives ticket in Baruten–Kaiama, Kwara State, have firmly rejected what they call candidate imposition attempts in the constituency.
They met on Thursday, May 14, 2026, to take this position. The group resolved to safeguard democratic integrity and keep the APC united in Kaiama.
While remaining loyal party members, the aspirants believe local people and stakeholders must choose their own representative. Personal interests cannot override the party's collective good, they stressed.
All six aspirants agreed to accept whatever decision Kaiama elders and APC stakeholders reach on a consensus candidate. They pledged to support whoever emerges through this process without reservation.
The group called on Baruten LGA communities to back only candidates approved by Kaiama itself. No outsider should be imposed on the federal constituency, they argued.
They've appealed to national APC leadership, Kwara's party chapter, and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to prevent any imposition. The governor must ensure the process respects local choice, they added.
Party members and supporters should remain calm and united, according to the group's message. Electoral success for the APC depends on this unity, they noted.
The six aspirants are Hon. Aliyu Umar Mande, Comrade Abubakar Musa Shamaki, Arch.
Aliyu Muhammad Saiffudeen, Hon. Halidu Danbaba, Malam Anas Adamu Galadima (known as Zam-Zam), and Hon.
Aliyu Abubakar Ibrahim (Alhaji Wure).
Sources at the meeting said the aspirants remain committed to APC's success in the constituency. Unity and collective decision-making will define their path forward, insiders confirmed.
