The People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Usman Okai, has criticized Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for what he described as a focus on sycophancy during his first 100 days in office.
According to Okai, Governor Ododo has prioritized the whims of a political ally over the needs of the people, neglecting pressing issues such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
In a statement, Okai expressed disappointment in the governor’s actions, stating that while schools and hospitals in the state are in dire need of attention, Governor Ododo has been acting as a personal chauffeur for the former Governor, Yahaya Bello.
This, according to Okai, is a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the citizens of Kogi State.
The PDP chieftain emphasized that Governor Ododo’s actions send a negative message to teachers, doctors, and citizens who rely on their elected officials to enact positive change.
He also called out those who stand by silently, complicit in the governor’s actions, as being just as guilty.
Okai stressed the importance of holding leaders accountable and demanding better from those who claim to represent the people.
He argued that Governor Ododo’s first 100 days have been marked by a shameful display of self-interest and negligence, and that the people of Kogi State deserve better.
As Governor Ododo’s tenure continues, it remains to be seen if he will address the concerns raised by Okai and other critics, or if he will continue to prioritize the interests of political allies over the needs of the people.
