Abba Anas Adamu, a former federal lawmaker from Jigawa State, has died in kidnappers' hands despite his family paying N50 million in ransom.
Adamu once represented Guri/Kirikasamma/Birniwa constituency and was a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress. He was snatched along with his associate, Ali Tukur Gantsa, on the Kaduna-Abuja highway while heading back to Kano.
Gunmen initially demanded N200 million from the family. After negotiations, they agreed to accept N50 million instead.
His body was discovered only after the ransom payment went through. Kidnappers directed his son to where they'd left the corpse.
News of his death has devastated his family and political allies across Jigawa. Friends and associates are now mourning the loss of the former politician.
