Two staff members of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company have been kidnapped in Ogun State. The abduction occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while the workers were on assignment.

Both men were seized along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road on the Oyo State section. They were performing their duties when the incident happened, IBEDC management confirmed.

A company statement released on the matter expressed grave concern over the development. "We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time," the statement read.

IBEDC has already initiated contact with security agencies to secure the workers' release. The company pledged its commitment to resolving the crisis swiftly and safely.

Details about the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping remain unclear at this time. No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction as of press time.
