Kebbi Hisbah Board operatives arrested 25 youths at a hotel in Argungu town on suspicion of engaging in immoral behaviour. Sirajo Kamba, the board's director of Shariah, disclosed this in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.
The raid took place on July 3 at the hotel premises. Those detained comprise 12 men and 13 women, according to Kamba.
He explained that the operation forms part of the board's wider campaign to stamp out social vices and safeguard moral standards in Kebbi state. The board plans to investigate the matter thoroughly and pursue legal action against anyone found guilty, he added.
