Kano State's pilgrims will depart for Saudi Arabia on May 14, 2026. The Pilgrims Welfare Board announced this date for the first Hajj airlift of the year.
Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, the board's director general, made the announcement at a closing ceremony last week. He spoke at the School for Arabic Studies during the Hajj Induction Course finale.
According to him, the date aligns with Nigeria's official Hajj schedule. Max Air will operate all flights carrying Kano pilgrims to the holy sites.
Matawalle said preparations are complete for a smooth operation. His team has finalized every detail needed for the airlift.
Yusuf Lawan, chairman of the board, urged intending pilgrims to study their materials thoroughly. Understanding Hajj rites beforehand is essential, he noted.
Pilgrims must follow all Nigerian and Saudi rules without exception. Lawan emphasized strict compliance with both nations' requirements.
Officials from multiple agencies attended the closing ceremony. Nigeria Immigration Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and Hisbah Corps Kano all sent representatives.
The Hajj Tribunal, National Orientation Agency, and Max Air were also present. Each agency delivered remarks supporting the board's plans.
Kano's welfare board remains committed to flawless execution. Officials promised a seamless experience for all state pilgrims heading to Mecca this year.
