Kano Governor Yusuf Clarifies Purpose of Commissions of Inquiry

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has recently clarified that the Commission of Inquiry set up by his government is not aimed at witch-hunting any opposition, but rather to ensure transparency and accountability in governance while tackling the issue of political violence in the state.

During a visit by the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who paid the traditional homage at the government house as part of the Hawan Nasarawa activities, Governor Yusuf explained that the commissions were established to investigate political fights that led to killings in 2023 and to look into the alleged diversion of public funds.

The Governor emphasized that the commissions were established with the intention of putting an end to political violence, which has resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property, and to promote economic and political development in the state.

He also vowed to investigate and prosecute perpetrators of political violence, regardless of their political affiliations.

Emir Bayero commended the government for distributing palliatives to residents, which he said had helped to alleviate hardship in the state.

He also condemned the growing trend of horse riding, thuggery, phone snatching, and other internal crimes, which have led to loss of lives and property.

Governor Yusuf assured the Emir of his government’s commitment to working hand in hand with the emirate, acknowledging their contributions and cooperation with the government.
