Jigawa to Feed 171,900 People Daily During Ramadan, Gov Namadi Says

In preparation for the month of Ramadan, the Jigawa state government has announced plans to feed 171,900 people daily, with a target of reaching 5,157,000 people throughout the period.

Governor Umar Namadi made this announcement during the flag-off of the distribution of palliatives to residents of Dutse on Friday.

According to the governor, two centers will be established in each electoral ward, where 300 people are expected to be fed daily.

This initiative will result in a total of 171,900 people being fed daily in 573 centers across the state.

The feeding program is not limited to public centers, as thousands of households will also be included in the initiative.

Governor Namadi explained that the program is aimed at helping the needy during the fasting period.

In addition to the state’s feeding program, Governor Namadi promised to facilitate another set of palliatives promised by President Bola Tinubu to the citizens of Jigawa.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to catering for the citizens of the state, especially in the face of the prevailing hardship in the country.

The state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, revealed that a total of 150,000 bags of 25kg of rice, 150,000 bags of 25kg of maize, and 100,000 cartoons of spaghetti would be distributed to 150,000 households.

The state government has made provisions for 700,000 beneficiaries across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state, with five people expected to benefit from each household.

As the Ramadan season approaches, the Jigawa state government’s commitment to providing for its citizens during this important time demonstrates its dedication to ensuring the well-being of its people, even in the face of economic challenges.
