IPOB Rejects Tinubu’s Call for Land Donation: “No Go Area for Fulani Herders

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly opposed President Bola Tinubu’s call for state governors to donate lands in a bid to resolve the ongoing farmers-herders crisis.

The group has vowed never to allow Southeast governors to cede Igbo ancestral lands for Fulani herders, calling the region a “no go area.”

During a political inauguration of his Agricultural Program in Niger State, President Tinubu urged state governors to provide land for Fulani ranching and RUGA, a policy aimed at establishing settlements for herders across Nigeria.

However, IPOB considers this call careless, thoughtless, and insulting to indigenous peoples who have been massacred by Fulani herdsmen.

In a statement by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group asserts that the Biafra region has no land for Fulanis and that the South East and South South are not suitable for ceding to the dangerous terrorists.

IPOB emphasizes that the region is home to farmers and pastoralists, and the land is not sufficient for both purposes.

The statement calls on the people of the South West and Middle Belt to rise up and reject Tinubu’s Fulanization agenda, warning that any region that allows Fulani occupation through RUGA or ranching is doomed.

As the farmers-herders crisis continues to plague Nigeria, the IPOB’s strong stance against land donation for Fulani herders adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing debate.

The group’s rejection of President Tinubu’s proposal highlights the deep-seated tensions between different ethnic and political groups in the country.

In the face of this controversy, it remains to be seen how the government will address the farmers-herders crisis and balance the competing interests of various stakeholders.
