Impeached Edo Deputy Governor Shaibu Defends Retention of Campaign Vehicles

The impeached former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has spoken out about the controversy surrounding the campaign vehicles allocated to him during his tenure.
Addressing the matter, Shaibu clarified that the vehicles in question are not new but refurbished ones that belonged to previous deputy governors.
In an interview with The Punch, Shaibu explained that the vehicles in his possession include two Prado SUVs, a Hilux, and a Land Cruiser, all of which were used by his predecessors, Lucky Imasuen, Dr. Pius Odubu, and Odubu’s wife.
He emphasized that he had taken these vehicles to the mechanic for engine replacement and refurbishment, making them functional once again.
Shaibu expressed disappointment over the calls for the return of these vehicles, citing a lack of compassion and understanding from those making such demands.
He highlighted his commitment to transparency and accountability during his tenure as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, noting that he only received one new vehicle in his almost eight years of service.
The controversy surrounding the campaign vehicles has brought to light the complexities of governance and the management of state resources.
As the political landscape in Edo State continues to evolve, this development serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible stewardship and the need for transparency in the allocation and use of state resources.
