Dr. Shaibu Husseini, a prominent journalist, film critic, and cultural administrator, assumed the role of the new executive director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).

Appointed by President Tinubu in January 2024, Husseini succeeded Alhaji Adedayo Thomas and has expressed his commitment to collaboration and transparency in his new position.

Upon his arrival at the NFVCB, Husseini commended the management and staff for their patience during the lengthy documentation process, which led to a delay in his resumption.

He assured them that he would be an “open book” and carry everyone along in his new role, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, discipline, and unity within the organization.

Husseini has a long-standing relationship with the NFVCB, having associated with the Board as a journalist since its formal launch in 1994.

This familiarity with the organization and its staff will likely serve him well in his new position.

In a display of his commitment to collaboration, top members of the global video streaming platform, Netflix, paid a courtesy call on the new NFVCB boss on his first day in office.

This meeting signals a potential for increased cooperation between the NFVCB and Netflix, which could lead to exciting developments in the Nigerian film and video industry.

As the new executive director of the NFVCB, Dr. Shaibu Husseini is poised to make a significant impact on the Nigerian film and video industry.

With his emphasis on collaboration, transparency, and unity, he is well-positioned to foster growth and innovation in the sector, ultimately benefiting both the industry and its consumers.
