Governor Zulum Vows to End Borno’s Water Crisis in 48 Hours

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has pledged to address the state’s ongoing water crisis within the next 48 hours.

The governor made this commitment during a virtual address to the residents of Borno from Saudi Arabia, where he was performing a lesser Hajj.

Zulum expressed his concern about the challenges faced by the people in accessing clean drinking water while he was away.

He attributed the water scarcity to the lack of electricity supply and promised to resolve the issue within the specified timeframe.

The governor pointed out that the national grid towers and their gas power plant had encountered issues requiring spare parts that must be imported from Germany.

He revealed a plan to equip all boreholes in the state with solar panels and backup generators to prevent future power failures affecting the water supply.

Zulum acknowledged that the broader electricity challenges in the state are complex and cannot be resolved overnight, even by the federal government.

However, he assured the public that his administration is committed to tackling these challenges and achieving a stable electricity supply before the end of his tenure as governor.

The governor also urged residents to monitor diesel supplies to their boreholes to prevent any exploitation by unscrupulous individuals among the operators.
