Governor Yusuf to Kano LG Caretaker Committee: Performance is Key to Tenure Renewal

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has sworn in the interim management committee for the 44 local government areas of the state.

During the ceremony, the governor emphasized that the committee’s performance will determine whether their tenure will be renewed or not.

In line with the constitution, the caretaker committee has a three-month tenure expiration period.

Governor Yusuf made it clear that the administration has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and warned the committee against a bossy style of leadership.

He stated that the government will not hesitate to invoke sanctions where they are found wanting.

The governor reminded the committee members that they were carefully selected and constituted to support the administration in fulfilling its campaign promises.

He urged them to embrace all and work hard to return the state to the path of progress and prosperity.

The committee was advised to exhibit exemplary conduct and not be bossy.

The governor stressed that the administration will maintain close vigilance over the conduct of each and every one of them and will not hesitate to invoke sanction if necessary.

However, there was a brief legal challenge to the appointment of the caretaker committee.

A motion of exparte was filed before a Federal High Court in Kano, seeking to restrain the Governor and others from appointing the committee.

The case was later discontinued.

As the newly appointed caretaker committee begins its three-month tenure, the focus will be on their performance and their ability to support the administration’s goals.

Their success in fulfilling these objectives will determine the next line of action for the local government councils in Kano State.
