David Umahi, Nigeria's Works Minister, has signed President Bola Tinubu's nomination papers for 2027. He's backing the president's bid for a second term in office.
Umahi made the move to show support for consolidating what the administration has accomplished so far. His media aide, Francis Nwaze, released a statement confirming the development.
According to him, road construction and rehabilitation work remain key drivers of economic growth. Tinubu has laid solid groundwork for more development, he noted.
The minister believes the president can successfully finish critical projects already underway. He called on all Nigerians to embrace stable leadership for lasting national progress.
Lawmaker James Faleke had earlier obtained the APC forms on the president's behalf in Abuja. This marked the formal start of the re-election campaign.
Party officials sold the nomination papers for N100 million each. Suleiman Argungu, the APC's National Organising Secretary, distributed them.
Nigeria's electoral commission has set January 16, 2027 for presidential and National Assembly contests. Governorship and state assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
